Back from Florida…
I never blogged about going to Florida because my house was going to be left unattended for that period of time and I was concerned. Then I got angry thinking isn’t that a sad commentary of our times. What do you think?
While in Florida I had planned to go through a second draft on a novel I’ve been working on but the weather was so beautiful and the community pool so welcoming, and the golf courses so reasonable and easily acessible, and I was painting with watercolors, so, all told, I spent only a few hours on the computer. Now however, I’m back, refreshed, ready to work, and pleased to say that the ASJA Panel I moderated for the American Association of Journalists and Authors’ 41st Annual Writers Conference went very well thanks to my three outstanding panelists: Jennifer Margulis, Lester Picker and Gina DeMillo Wagner.
The whole world of publishing is changing as I get ready to launch my first mystery “The Child Taker.” It is a bit overwhelming but I am going to try so please watch for more information as to when the book will be available.

Small world
The ASJA Conference ended with a cocktail party for the hundreds of attendees. I sat down near a young woman and we exchanged cards for our books. Turns out the young woman is the daughter of the writer who mentored me when I began to write in Buffalo almost 30 years ago. It sure is a small world.

Connie and Ruthie’s wedding
On Tuesday, July 26, 2011, I had the great pleasure of attending the wedding of Connie Kurtz and Ruthie Berman, two dear friends who have done so much for so many and were instrumental in keeping me sane as I went through my own coming out process 21 years ago. They had been living in a domestic partnership for 36 years waiting for gay marriage to become legal in New York and were married in a synagogue and under a rainbow colored Chupah (awning) as is customary at traditional Jewish weddings just two days after New York became the sixth and largest U.S. state to recognize same-sex weddings. It was one of the most joyous weddings with many friends and family members in attendance.

Cornelia St Cafe Reading
I was one of the readers at the debut reading at the Cornelia Street Café on May 11. Videos of the readers were put on YouTube and on the IWWG fan page. Here’s the YouTube link.
